Together creates Royal Mail Christmas stamps

Together has designed the Royal Mail Christmas stamps for 2011, celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
The seven stamps in the range show images of Jesus, Mary and Joseph visited by the Archangel Gabriel, which the Royal Mail says were inspired by verses from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
There are also scenes from the Nativity, and all stamps show the chapter and verse where they can be found in the Bible.
A Royal Mail spokeswoman says that Together worked closely with the Royal Mail in-house design team, and commissioned artist Peter Malone to create the images for the stamps.
She says the overall design process for the stamps can take anywhere between 18 months and three years.
Each year’s stamps alternate between secular and non-secular themes, with last year’s stamps created by Aardman and showing characters Wallace and Gromit in festive scenes.
The stamps are issued this week, and the 2007 1st and 2nd Class Madonna and Child stamps, will also be available.

I agree, these are stunning stamps and capture the spirit of Christmas. I love the use of colour - like the colours used in stained glass windows in Churches - clever.Each stamp visually tells part of the story (like a the Church windows) - a series. I feel that they build on the anticipation one feels in the build up to Christmas - I think a set for keeps is a must.

Where's my magnifying glass? They might be stunning, but it's not the word I think of when I see them. The word "Tiny" forms very slowly, and then stops, in my mind. They are tiny.

Great that everyone receiving a posted card this Cristmas will be given a peek at the real reason for the season ... the birth of Jesus.
