Top 5 design things to look out for in September
Visit the London Design Festival and set eyes on the new Apple TV (possibly…). We look at the big design events and stories coming up next month.
Festival: London Design Festival
What: Now in its 13th year, London Design Festival will showcase more than 400 events and exhibitions spanning different design disciplines across the capital – from shows on performance design through to discussions on craftsmanship and exhibitions on the future of print design. Watch out for our in-depth LDF previews, which will be published in September.
When: 19 – 27 September

Product launch: Apple TV?
What: According to Buzzfeed, Apple’s new TV is expected to launch this month – and the news source adds that it will be a “polished, drastically improved” version of the current model, with new product designs, improved user interfaces and Siri voice control. Look out for the announcement, which is rumoured to take place at Apple’s annual autumn event on 9 September, when the company is also expected to launch a new version of the iPhone.

Exhibition: Designers in Residence
What: The annual Designers in Residence provides four emerging designers with the opportunity and support to make their projects come to life. This year’s theme is migration, and September will see the culmination of their ideas in an exhibition.
When: 9 September 2015 – 31 March 2016
Where: Design Museum, 28 Shad Thames, London SE1 2YD.

Festival: Brighton Digital Festival
What: Workshops, exhibitions, conferences and “hackathons” will grace Brighton throughout September, including design sessions on 3D printing, laser cutting, crafts, woodwork, metalwork and more. Also featuring is one-day conference dConstruct, focusing solely on digital design inspiration.
When: 1 – 30 September

Festival: Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts
What: This will be the 31st edition of the graphic arts festival, which was founded in 1955, and is the world’s oldest biennial devoted to graphic arts. Taking place in Slovenia’s capital city, it will feature work from more than 40 artists and designers, and will kick start with Nicola Lees’ exhibition Over you/you.
When: 29 August – 3 December
