Transport for London launches Outer Limits poster design prize

Transport for London is launching a poster design competition to promote outlying areas of the capital.

The winner of The Outer Limits – Beyond Zone One, will see their design used on the capital’s public transport network, and receive £1000 plus a two-night stay at The Grove hotel in Hertfordshire. The poster will also become part of the London Transport Museum’s collection.

The second prize is a private tour of the home of the Wimbledon Championships and free admission to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum for up to four people.

Third prize is a meal and free admission to Sandown Racecourse for four people. Both second- and third-place winners will see their posters printed for sale at the London Transport Museum.

All three winning designs will be displayed at the museum during the London Design Festival in September.

Organisers TfL, the LTM, London Design Festival and Visit London are looking for a poster that ‘celebrates the discoveries, pleasures and excitements that London has to offer beyond the city centre’, according to a statement.

The organisers are also particularly interested in receiving ‘designs that feature modern life’ in the London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Haringay, Harrow, Islington, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth.

The deadline for entries is 27 July. For more information visit http://shop.tfl.gov.uk/Poster-competition.html.
