Typographic film posters
In between client work, Haime & Butler has busied itself designing a set of limited-run film posters based around quotes and simple graphic themes.
‘We’ve taken cult films and our favourites,’ says Haime & Butler partner Bob Haime.
His favourite, The Italian Job, uses an abstract Italian flag to play out the film’s famous last scene - a literal cliff-hanger, where here the green section of the flag becomes the film’s coach hanging off the cliff, and the speech marks represent its vertiginous wobble.
Twelve posters have been designed so far, each limited to a run of 100. All are silk screen printed, die stamped, and individually numbered.
A team of four at Haime & Butler is behind the whole set, and Haime says that he’s now receiving commissions.
‘Someone in New York wants a Blade Runner one so we’re working on that now,’ he says.
