Webb&Webb designs P&O anniversary book
Webb & Webb has designed a book for maritime company P&O to celebrate its 175th anniversary.

P&O: Across the Oceans Across the Years
The book looks at the history of the company from 1837 until the 1970s, charting a partly fictional narrative.
The 264 page book will be published in a run of 7500 and uses images form the company’s archive as well as commissioned photographs by Marc Walter. It is written by Ruth Artomsky.
Webb&Webb has also created a P&O Heritage Collection identity which is attached to other ephemera sold in the Heritage Collection website shop.

P&O: Across the Oceans Across the Years
P&O Heritage curator and co-author of the book Susie Cox tasked Webb&Webb with illustrating the narrative, which James Webb says needed to engage the reader, ‘rather then list how many funnels each ship has.’

P&O: Across the Oceans, Across the Years
The book tells the stories of those impacted by P&O, ‘be they traveller, immigrant crew or manger,’ says Cox who adds, ‘We hope the book gives readers a feel for a period when travelling took weeks not hours and P&O was forging the links of the global supply chain we know and rely upon today.’
P&O: Across the Oceans, Across the Years is published by Antique Collectors Club and will be available in bookstores from June
