The festival was founded in 2012 to showcase comic and graphic art talent in the UK, and has since grown from around 40 exhibitors to 100 for the 2014 edition.

Its third edition features American graphic novelist and cartoonist Chris Ware as the festival’s artist-in-residence. Ware is the man behind graphic novels Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid of Earth and Building Stories, and also created the Acme Novelty Library, which was first published in 1993.
