The A-Z of Instagram
Instagram, the ubiquitous and democratising mobile photography app and online community has, with a little digital wizardry, made everyone a photographer.
That is to say that by carrying a phone, you can with little ado, snap, filter for some kind of effect, and share photographs. Notwithstanding having a bad eye for photography and no audience of course.
Chipping Norton-based consultancy Mark-Making’s creative director Stephen Turner was introduced to the platform by senior designer Nicola Eddington.
With another colleague the pair set up the group feed @markmakingdesign, theming a competition around the colour red – the consultancy’s corporate colour - before turning their community’s attention to the question ‘Where do you work?’
This has led to a new book, The A-Z of Instagram which has been turned into a full set of prints for the exhibition.
The A-Z of Instagram features 1000 images from photographers from all over the world who have captured their workplaces.
‘We’ve picked 26 photos, with one representing each letter. It could be an entrant’s name or their profession which we’ve picked up on,’ says Turner.
As well as the A-Z of Instagram, visitors can see results from the red themed competition and other selected highlights by Mark Making.
Mobile Photography Exhibition: A-Z of Instagram takes place on 6 October at Mark Making’s studio Harraden Court, 26a High Street, Chipping Norton, OX7
