BBC design rosters up for review

Two BBC design rosters will come up for review at the end of May as the broadcaster undergoes a public consultation, following director-general Mark Thompson’s strategy review.

The marketing and communications design services, and strategy and identity design services rosters will be re-assessed on 31 May, following the ending of two-year contracts originally awarded in June 2008.

The marketing and communications design services roster currently includes 999, Blast, D8, Designate, Easy Tiger Creative, Elmwood Design, Harriman Steel, Inferno, Love, Premm Design, Red Stone Design and Studio Output.

Fallon, 35 communications, Lambie-Nairn, Red Bee Media and The Partners make up the current strategy and identity design services roster.

The BBC has indicated the contracts for all these groups may be subject to a ‘possible extension’ of ‘up to two years’.

The design impact of the roster review and Thompson’s proposals will be examined in depth in the forthcoming issue of Design Week, out tomorrow.
