Beyond Creative Thinking to work up Mars training space

Beyond Creative Thinking is set to work with Mars on the design of a training room concept for the company’s Slough headquarters. The consultancy says it is being appointed on recommendation from signage fit-out company Image Creation, which will also work on the project.

Mars is looking for a more ’interactive and creative space’, according to Beyond Creative Thinking managing director Emma Carter, who says it wants to convey a sense of ’inspiration’ and draw trainees’ attention to ’the high level of professionalism’ of Mars training.

Ideas include reversible wall-hung graphics and table-top graphics echoing themes expressed on the wall. These may look to explore commercial expressions of spend on training and on the reverse character-based graphics.

’They want to steer clear of big ads and characters from their brands. One idea is to make a new character related to training,’ says Carter, who is also considering expressing Mars’ ’five principles’ – quality, responsibility, mutuality, efficiency and freedom – through wall graphics.

Other ideas include plans to divide the space with glass partitions to delineate training areas, and running a banner around the top of the room to show trainees all the brands Mars owns.

Mars has an in-house training icon, ’a tree made up of different people’, currently applied to the training room door, according to Carter, but she is unsure if this will be reviewed as part of the brief.

Mars was unable to comment at the time of going to press.
