Carmody Groarke wins Frieze Art Fair task
Carmody Groarke has been appointed as the architect for this year’s Frieze Art Fair in London’s Regent’s Park.
The practice was appointed a few weeks ago following a ‘competitive interview with a number of practices’, according to architect Andrew Groarke.
Practice co-founders Kevin Carmody and Andrew Groarke say, ‘It is a privilege to work on a project which has such a strong legacy of creative collaboration between client and architect.’
Groarke says the practice has started conversations with the client about the functionality of the space, though no creative proposals have been put forward at this stage.
Frieze Art Fair directors Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, say, ‘The architectural design of Frieze Art Fair has been important to us from the beginning.’
They add, ‘Frieze Art Fair is unique in presenting some of the world’s most exciting contemporary art in one of London’s most beautiful parks. We are delighted to be collaborating with Carmody Groarke, whom we are sure will reflect and honour this position.’
The fair has previously used architects David Adjaye, Jamie Fobert and, most recently, Caruso St John.
The Frieze Art Fair takes place from 13-16 October.
