Cogapp creates Olympic art website

Cogapp has designed the branding, marketing materials and a website for London 2012’s art commissioning programme.

Part of the Cultural Olympiad, the Artists Taking the Lead scheme has awarded 12 artists with a total of £5.4m to create works around the country in time for London’s hosting of the Olympics.

The branding is intended to encourage artists to imagine the nation as a ‘blank canvas’.

‘We created a series of designs revolving around the idea of art in unexpected places, underlining the invitation to everyone in the whole country to participate,’ says the digital consultancy in a statement on its website.

Design consultancies supplying the Olympic Games are only permitted to promote their work through their own websites.

The Artists Taking the Lead website goes live today, announcing the winners of the competition, including London-based artists Alfie Dennen and Paula Le Dieu, who create works on the top of bus stops, Lone Twin in the South East, Leeds Canvas in Yorkshire, and Brian Irvine and John Mcilduff in Northern Ireland.
