Design LSM creates Hertfordshire pub with a rural feel and links to Henry Moore

Design LSM has created the interiors for The Hoops Inn, a pub and dining room run by the Henry Moore Foundation at its Perry Green sitein Hertfordshire.

Perry Green is Moore’s former home and studio and now features exhibition galleries, an outdoor sculpture park and a research unit.

Following a creative-led pitch in March, Design LSM was briefed to create interiors that would keep the pub’s rural, welcoming feel, but also have strong links to Henry Moore.

A spokeswoman for the Henry Moore Foundation says, ’We wanted a combination of restoration – using the best materials and craftsmanship – and innovation: introducing the best in modern and contemporary design features in tribute to the artist Henry Moore.’

The 250m2 space, which opens on 27 November, features a slate-coloured floor, neutral walls with tonal painted panelling and natural oak beams.

Bespoke joinery had been used for the bar as well as some of the furniture, which will be mixed with reclaimed pieces.

Curators from the foundation have selected flint, books and personal photographs from the sculptor to be exhibited in the pub.

A spokeswoman for the foundation says, ’The challenge was creating a venue that enhances the hamlet of Perry Green for those who live there, and yet meets the needs of its seasonal visitors.’
