Design Week Studio Sessions #1 – Koto on setting up a studio

In the first episode of our new Studio Sessions film series, we talk to Koto about how they set up home in their Southwark space.

Design Week’s new Studio Sessions documentary series looks at the stories behind designers’ studios – from how to find the right space to tips on making it your own and what happens when you need to move.

In this first episode, we visit Koto at their space in the Metal Box Factory in London’s Southwark and talk to co-founders James Greenfield and Jowey Roden about how they set up the studio.

Koto was founded last year by Greenfield and Roden – both formerly of DesignStudio – alongside ex-Airside managing director Caroline Matthews.

The studio has worked on a number of branding projects, including the new identity for Gumtree, which was unveiled last week.

Studio Sessions will be a regular monthly Design Week feature, with all films directed by Camilla Corr.

In our next episode we talk to new Pentagram parters Luke Powell and Jody Hudson-Powell about their recent move to the consultancy.
