Gerard Taylor works on Orla Kiely store

Gerard Taylor is designing a second London store for fashion and homeware designer Orla Kiely.

The King’s Road outlet will be arranged over two floors and the interiors will feature wall graphics of Orla Kiely patterns, set against dark timbers, marble, polished aluminium and coloured glass.

‘Getting a balance between the architecture and the product is critical, when the product has such a powerful pattern and colour’, says Taylor.

Furniture and interior designer Taylor has created several stores for Kiely, including her original flagship store in Covent Garden four years ago. He also designed and supervised the opening of eight Orla Kiely stores and concessions across Asia.

The company is proposing opening a further four London stores.

Orla Kiely King’s Road opens on 1 September.
