Honeysuckle is colour of the year for 2011

Pantone has announced 18-2120 Honeysuckle, ‘a dynamic reddish pink’, as its colour of the year for 2011.

Pantone, which provides designers with colour products and services, chose the colour for the New Year because honeysuckle ‘emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigour’.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone, says, ‘In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating colour that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues.’

‘The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages,’ Eiseman adds. ‘Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent [that is] reminiscent of the care-free days of spring and summer.’

Pantone has also included 18-2120 Honeysuckle as one of 200 ‘wedding colours’. Working with wedding dress manufacturers such as Dessy and Sandals Destination, Pantone aims to help brides colour co-ordinate their big day.
