Industrial Design Day to explore how design improves life

The fourth World Industrial Design Day – to be held on 29 June – will take the theme of Industrial Design: How Does it Improve Your Life?

The international event is organised by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, which is inviting designers to hold events based around the theme.

Icsid says the theme ‘aims to start a public conversation that will showcase and bring awareness to the crucial and ever-present work being achieved by industrial designers around the world’.

On 29 June, Icsid will also launch the World Design Impact Prize, which will be open to Icsid members and aims to recognise ‘exceptional industrial design-driven projects that are making a positive impact on our social, economic, cultural and/or environmental quality of life’. The shortlisted projects for the prize will be unveiled on 29 June.

Icsid is also running the World Industrial Design Day student poster competition. Open to any student attending an Icsid member educational institution, the winning design will be used to promote the day. Public voting on the competition will be open on www.icsid.org from 10-27 May.
