AHOY! at The National Maritime Museum, by KCA London

KCA London has designed AHOY! – a new gallery for 0-7 year-olds at the National maritime Museum in Greenwich, which opens to the public this week. KCA says it has been designed to “fire children’s imaginations” by allowing them to fish from the end of a pier, stoke the boiler on a steam ship, captain a pirate ship and discover the museum collection through “imaginative play”. KCA London creative director Dan Howarth says: “Avoiding the use of primary colours so often found in children’s spaces, we have used a muted palette of colours and natural materials inspired by the maritime paintings of the museum collection.” The new gallery has opened at the National Maritime Museum, Park Row, Greenwich, London SE10 9NF.
