Boutique London hotel citizenM Bankside has turned its courtyard into an Alice in Wonderland-themed garden to celebrate London Design Festival.

The “secret, magical” garden has been designed in collaboration with Danish designer Nathalie Schwer, and is inspired by a quotation from the novel: “Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality”.

It includes bright-coloured panels to create a “mini labyrinth” which “plays with the viewer’s perception of the space”, says citizenM, alongside floral displays.

In addition to the garden, there will be a window display at the front of the hotel, created by calligrapher Paul Antonio.
