Ambiguously Yours: Gender in Hong Kong Popular Culture, by Napp Studio

Napp Studio has worked on the design for a recent exhibition exploring androgyny and gender fluidity in Hong Kong popular culture.

Ambiguously Yours featured 90 exhibits looking at gender representation in everything from Cantopop and fashion to film and graphic design.

Grey was chosen as the main colour in the exhibition space, with the aim of creating a sense of ambiguity and differentiating it from the black and white background colours typically seen in art exhibitions.

Structural frames and layers of translucent materials such as glass were used to house the various displays, and theatre-inspired lighting design was also incorporated.

Ambiguously Yours: Gender in Hong Kong Popular Culture was on display at M+ Pavilion, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong in May 2017.
