Artworks for Aid, by various artists

Two illustrators have set up a fundraising project which aims to encourage the creative industry to “part with their art” to raise money to support refugees in Calais.

Nina Tara and Duncan Smith have set up Artworks for Aid as an online art auction, which includes donated work from the likes of Ralph Steadman and Star Wars artist Iain McCaig.

It takes place via the group’s Facebook page, Monday to Friday, with a new piece up for bid every day. Bids are made via the comments section under the artwork up for auction.

Proceeds are going towards charities including Art Refuge and Human Relief Foundation.

Smith says: “The support we have had from our publishing community in the last week has been amazing and it is really heart warming to see so many people coming together like this. I can’t make this happen without all the help of the creative community. But I do believe we can make this a wonderful success and help charities provide assistance to the people who urgently need it.”

For more details on how to contribute art and design work for the cause, and on how to bid, visit the Artworks for Aid official site.
