B&B has designed a new visual identity for “craft” soft drinks company Dalston Cola.

The new branding aims to keep the “raw, edginess” of the brand, says B&B, while helping to establish it as a more mainstream drink at the same time.

Shaun Bowen, creative partner at B&B says: “We were able to highlight the brand’s hands-on process through the logo rather than layering on overly-reassuring handmade messages. The colour palette was equally important as we wanted vibrant, modern, eye-catching colours, but also wanted to ensure we didn’t lose the naturalness of the product.”

Six different labels were created for the range, showing hands squeezing, grating or mashing various fruit, vegetables or spices to match the flavour. The label curves around the bottle in a “D” shape to indicate Dalston.

Dalston Cola’s founder Duncan O’Brien says the design, which now ignores “overused craft messages”, will help the drink “stand out from its competitors”.
