Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR) has designed the visual identity and packaging for a new range of organic chickpea puffs, Hippeas.

The yellow packet design features a smiling face with a chickpea illustration representing an eye and a different coloured tongue for each of the four flavours – sweet & smokin’, pepper power, far out fajita and in herbs we trust.

The name and identity of the brand centres around the modern day “hippie”, who cares about the earth as well as their taste buds.

“As the brand name alone unlocks such a rich visual language in the mind, we wanted to avoid the clichés of the hippie era and create something charismatic and relevant for both today and the future,” says Stephen McDavid, design director at JKR.
