Checkland Kindleysides has designed a new flagship store for footwear brand Hunter.

The consultancy worked with Hunter’s creative director Alasdhair Willis to develop the creative concept. The new retail space is based in Tokyo, and is set across two floors covering 945m2.

Customers will experience a “journey” as they walk through an “imaginary forest” on the ground floor of the store.

There is also a “floating” roof structure, which aims to replicate a barn roof, with fake silver birch trees passing up through it onto the first floor, with a replica of a sky.

The first floor includes LED illuminated hedges and an artificial turf floor to mimic a garden. Digital screens are used throughout the store to enhance the store’s “multi-sensorial experience”.
