Icon magazine redesign, by Anja Wohlstrom and Simon Kuhn

Icon-Relaunch---COVER

Icon magazine art director Anja Wohlstrom has led a redesign of the design and architecture magazine, working with designer Simon Kuhn, editor David Michon and the rest of the editorial team.

The redesign comes as Icon publishes its 150th issue and features a number of design changes.

Wohlstrom says she has introduced a “playful” grid that allows for a more flexible layout. The new design uses Mark FF for body copy and Swift Neue LT Pro for body copy and display.

The magazine has been restructured around three sections – Lifestyle, Architecture and Objects – with a 16-page bonus section, called 150 Things Worth Knowing, printed on a different paper stock.

For the first redesign issue, Norwegian architecture studio Snøhetta created and photographed an installation for the cover.
