National Gallery of Canada’s Boutique, by Lumsden
London-based consultancy, Lumsden, has redesigned Boutique at the entrance to the National Gallery in Ottawa.
The new design aims to improve visibility and sight lines into the shop, to draw visitors in.
“It is an important enhancement to the visitor experience and a vital revenue stream to enable ongoing investment in the National Gallery of Canada,” according to the NGC.
The retail space draws on the building’s use of repetitive shapes and strong lines, using textured timber to echo the presence of wood throughout the National Gallery.
The National Gallery is Lumsden’s first project in Canada.
