Mather & Co has designed the exhibition space for the newly reopened Norton Priory Museum and Gardens in Cheshire.

The museum, which celebrates its 900th anniversary this year, has been redesigned to increase its display space by 60%.

New features include an open storage display unit that runs the entire length of the ground floor gallery, and a new gallery called Unearthing Norton Priory, which explores archaeological collections and the history of the monastic site.

Wellcome Trust has also provided the funding for samples of human remains buried at the site to form the basis of new interactive displays. These are designed to help visitors learn more about diet, disease and everyday life from the medieval skeletons.
