Book publisher Puffin has worked with Pantone to give its children’s classic novel collection a modern makeover.
The book covers have been redesigned taking on the style of Pantone’s colour cards, taking on block colours that resonate with the book in some way. The title and author of the book is then bordered off at the bottom of the cover, taking on Pantone’s typeface.
Classic novels that have been transformed include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Anne of Green Gables, The Wizard of Oz, and Treasure Island. They are blue, green, yellow, and orange respectively, taking on “shades that reflect the stories within”, says Puffin.
The new covers aim to conjure the “inner child” in adult readers through drawing up associations and nostalgia through the use of colour.
The full collection of books will be available to buy through Penguin Random House from 6 June.
