Hato Press has opened a physical store to accompany its online shop selling prints, books, totes, pottery, toys and bookbinding kits.

The shop will be based on the ground floor of Studio Hato, the brand’s accompanying design consultancy.

Studio Hato has completed projects such as website design for an online resource on Peter Blake’s Liverpool Biennial Dazzle ship, and exhibition design for this year’s London College of Communication show Staging Disorder.

The new store will also be used for a series of workshops called Learn with Hato.

The workshops will encourage “the notion of learning through play”, says the consultancy, and will help to teach visitors “tools of the trade”.

The interior design of the shop is wood-based, with furniture scheme composed by Michael Marriott.

Accompanying the shop opening is the launch of Sheet Magazine Issue 7, Urban Outfitter’s monthly magazine, curated by Hato. The publication sees artists, designers and architects write “mini manuals” to encourage readers to learn various craft skills and techniques. It will be available at the store launch.

The Hato shop will open on 16 July.
