The A-Z of typographic terms, by Fontsmith

Fontsmith has created an infographic listing of an A-Z glossary of typography jargon.

Using a green and grey colour scheme and the type foundry’s new typeface, FS Aldrin, the infographic lists almost 80 typography related terms and explanations, including ink trap and kerning.

“As type designers we can get immersed in an insular typographical bubble at times,” says Phil Garnham, type design director at Fontsmith.

“We thought that it would be an interesting project to research and illustrate a few of the key words that we use every day here in the Fontsmith studio but then before we knew it we were up to nearly 80 terms!”

The infographic is available to download and share for free, crediting Fontsmith.
