Inspired – Simon Adamson

I have always been fascinated by Tokyo. As a young lad, my intrigue and excitement about the place came from watching programmes that featured robots and boys’ toys and thinking ’wow’.

But it wasn’t until the early 1990s that I became hooked on the place. The rise of all things cool, street and limited edition, like clothing label A Bathing Ape, Hiroshi Fujiwara design projects and rare sneakers was a young designers dream. Well, it was for me anyway.

Even though I’m a little bit older and wiser now, I still hunt down the rare goods with every visit I make, but I also look to Japan as a source of creative inspiration for my job.

Tokyo is dripping with creativity, luxury and audaciousness. Every time I go my brain acts like a sponge soaking up all things great in design. Whether that is visiting one of the many outstanding luxury flagship stores or drinking in one of the design-edgy bars, I always come away with rich experiences and creative ideas that I can inject into my work and brand worlds.
