South East England

University of Brighton – virtual showcase

The university has cancelled its physical show in favour of an online celebration, the blog itself will go live 12 June, with the School of Architecture and Design’s grad show officially beginning on 3 July and the MA grad show from 17 July.

University of the Creative Arts, all campuses – virtual showcase

Scheduled to go live on the UCA website on 22 June.

Buckinghamshire New University – virtual and print showcases

The university is doing two shows this year: an online Art & Design Summer Show, which will go live next month, and one with arts and culture magazine Aesthetica in August/September, which will showcase students’ work in print and online.

University of Hertfordshire – virtual showcase 

Hertfordshire students from its animation, film, media, design, visual arts, music and art therapy courses will have their work shared in an online showcase titled Onwards, Upwards, Let’s Go! It will launch 16 July. 

University of Reading – virtual showcase

Reading will be holding a virtual event for its typographic and graphic communication students, with the website going live on 11 June. A link to the platform will be announced soon. 

South West England

Arts University Bournemouth – virtual showcase

AUB is in the process of building the platform on which it will showcase students’ work. More details will be following in July.

Falmouth University – virtual showcase

Falmouth has put together a website showcasing its BA Graphic Design students’ work and websites, which can be accessed now. There is also a student-led Instagram account. 

Winchester School of Art – virtual showcase

The school’s BA degree show has been moved online, and is scheduled to take place 12-18 June.

West England and Wales

University of West England – virtual showcase

An online platform for final-year students to showcase work will be launched in the coming weeks, and will feature the work of 800 students across 20 creative disciplines. More details to follow.

University of South Wales – virtual showcases

Student’s on USW’s interior design course and graphic communication course have developed their own showcase platform in place of a physical show, which can be accessed now. 

Swansea College of Art – virtual showcase

SCA’s degree show will be going live on 10 July.

Midlands

Birmingham City University – virtual showcase

Students on the BA Art and Design course at Birmingham City have developed a student-led platform on which their degree show can take place, in collaboration with An Endless Supply. It launches 9 June. 

Birmingham School of Art

The School has taken the decision to cancel its showcase. However, it says it will still showcase students’ work “based on the School’s preferred option” at a later date.

Coventry University – virtual showcase

Coventry will be going live with an online platform on 19 June. Alongside the showcasing of student work, the plan is for it to become an “immersive” online event, with guest speakers and industry talks also featuring. A separate platform has been developed for graphic design students.

DeMontfort University – virtual showcase

Graphic design and illustration students at DeMontfort have devised their own online degree show. It will feature 100 students’ work, under the show title “Show Your Face 2020”. The website will go live in early July. 

University of Northampton – virtual showcase

Northampton’s graphic communications students are sharing their work in an online showcase titled Designed by Humans. It is available to access now. 

University of Lincoln – virtual showcase 

All creative graduates from Lincoln will be celebrated with an online showcase, which will launch on 19 June. 

Loughborough University – virtual showcase

A virtual showcase platform is being developed now. Dates to follow.

Nottingham Trent University – virtual showcase

Nottingham Trent will showcase the work of its product design students via an online platform which will launch on 19 June.

Staffordshire University – virtual showcase

Staffordshire has moved its annual GradEx event online this year, the platform will be going live on 15 June.

University of Worcester – virtual showcase 

Worcester will be launching a virtual showcase in July. More details to follow. 

North West England

University of Central Lancashire – virtual showcase

A purpose-built virtual exhibition space has been developed for the creative students at UCLan, which is available to access from 16 July. 

University of Cumbria

Cumbria has chosen to postpone its graduate shows. More details to follow.

Manchester School of Art – virtual showcase

Manchester has launched a showcase of student work called In Progress, which features pieces from across a range of creative disciplines. The platform also includes a programme of events with industry partners and speakers and is accessible now.

Liverpool School of Art and Design – virtual showcases

Three separate platforms have been developed for the school’s design courses: graphic design and illustration; fine art; and fashion design and communication. All will be launched on 5 June. 

Yorkshire and North East England

Leeds Beckett University – virtual showcase

This year will see the first ever virtual festival from Leeds School of Arts, and will feature creative work from a range of disciplines, as well as speakers, artists and performers. It will go live on 16 July.  

University of Leeds School of Fine Art – virtual showcase

To celebrate its BA Fine Art students, the university will be holding a virtual showcase of work from 5-20 June.

University of Huddersfield – virtual showcase 

Huddersfield will be launching their online platform on 26 June.

University of Sunderland – virtual showcase

Sunderland will launch its online platform to the public on 12 June. A private launch for students has been scheduled for 11 June. 

Northern Ireland and Scotland

Belfast School of Art – alternative events

Belfast’s graphic design class of 2020 has developed a platform for graduates’ work, which is available to view now.

Edinburgh College of Art – virtual showcase

A series of online events have been put in place following discussions with staff and students. It will include a virtual showcase and curated online presentations. These are scheduled to take place from June to August.  

Glasgow Clyde College – virtual showcase 

Two separate platforms have been developed to celebrate Glasgow Clyde graduates in graphic design and illustration. Both are available to access now. 

Glasgow School of Art – virtual showcase

Glasgow’s showcase will feature work from students across its five schools: the Mackintosh School of Architecture, School of Design, School of Fine Art, Innovation School and School of Stimulation and Visualisation. The digital platform launched 29 May and will remain live for the next year.

Gray’s School of Art – virtual showcase

In partnership with Look Again and design studio Design and Code, Gray’s will be launching a virtual degree show curated by students which will take visitors on a tour of the school and different exhibition spaces. It will launch on 10 July. 

London

University of the Arts London, all colleges – virtual showcase

The platform, created in partnership with IBM, is scheduled to go live by the end of July. The university is also still considering venue-based shows later in the year, if government restrictions permit.

Brunel University London – Made in Brunel showcase

Scheduled to still take place in person, 17-20 September 2020 at Oxo Tower Bargehouse, Southbank, SE1 9PH.

Goldsmiths, University of London

All graduate shows have been postponed, with the university stating: “Both the undergraduate and postgraduate end of year shows for the 2020 graduating cohorts will happen as soon as possible after the College re-opens in the autumn.”

Middlesex University London – virtual showcase

More than 30 creative disciplines from Middlesex’s Arts and Creative Industries and Science and Technology courses will be displayed on a virtual platform, which will launch officially on 1 July. 

Royal Academy of Arts

The RA’s Summer Exhibition – its 252^nd edition – has been rescheduled to autumn 2020. A firm date has not yet been fixed.

Royal College of Art

The RCA has developed what it is calling a “digital discovery platform” to showcase its students’ work. It will run 16 – 31 July. The website is expected to go live in the coming weeks. 

Collection shows

D&AD New Blood

D&AD has scrapped its annual festival at London’s Truman Brewery, instead opting for a digital festival, which will run 6-10 July. Alongside showcasing student work, it will also feature a line up of online talks and workshops.
