Giving a public response to a public tirade

If Tim Rich (DW 5 March) had come out with that lot [about the quality of illustration] in the kitchen at a party, I would ignore him in favour of a handful of twiglets and a lukewarm cider.

However, such a public tirade demands a public response. To say that illustration is inferior to photography is as inane an observation as saying legs are better than arms.
