LCP may suffer from IT fallout

Restructuring at the London College of Printing may lead to job losses within the college’s printing and publishing school.

The move away from craft-based printing to digital/IT methods has led to a “redundancy situation” for the school’s 17 staff.

Michael Benson, director of marketing and communications for the London Institute, a federation of colleges including the LCP, says the staff will be able to apply for 12 jobs in a restructured department, while others may be redeployed or offered voluntary redundancy.

Protesters say finance is being put ahead of education.
