Graphic designer Joe Lee-Brown doesn’t “play around with penises”, but he does “touch them up” – as part of his job.

Lee-Brown designs page layouts for monthly magazines Vulcan and Zipper, which, he says, are absolutely not gay porn. “I’d describe them as over 18 top-shelf stuff, with a very small, exclusive circulation,” says Lee-Brown.

Penises have become “as normal as photos of dogs or flowers” to him.

“We don’t spend the day saying ‘oh, he’s only got a six-inch one, we’d better enlarge him to nine’, nothing like that”, he says. “We just touch them up with colour and reprographic techniques and remove any blemishes.”

Lee-Brown has previously designed club fliers and worked on corporate projects. “I couldn’t believe it when I started doing this, but it’s become completely normal,” he says.
