New UK stores for Hugo Boss

German clothing brand Hugo Boss is working on the launch of several store formats in the UK, the first of which is likely to make its debut in the next few months.

Plans include its first womenswear-only stores in the UK, plus two men’s and women’s shops in London’s New Bond Street and Birmingham. Plans are at an early stage.

According to a Hugo Boss spokeswoman, the company is already looking for a flagship women’s store in central London, and aims to open as soon as a site is found. She says it will probably be designed by the Hugo Boss in-house team.

It is also believed to be planning a string of womenswear stores in major international cities in Asia and Europe.

The expansion into womenswear-only stores follows the launch of Hugo Boss’ first women’s collection for Spring/ Summer 2001. Boss Woman comprises a 650-piece designer sportswear range. It will be available this week at Hugo Boss’ Queen Street store in London.
