Why wrap apples when they come in natural packs?

With regard to Sainsbury’s new eco-packaging (News, DW 12 January), what is the point of new hi-tech eco-packaging, when the original could bio-degrade just as well? Apples have their own packaging – the peel.

The fascination with packaging and re-packaging has got to end before we use all our resources and our landfill sites. We need paper bags, instead of bags made out of plastic, milk bottles from the milkman, and councils that provide nappy washing facilities to really make an impact on our enviroment.

Keep Britain a green and pleasant land.
