The conference Convergence is more than a buzzword will be held from 8-10 March. It will allow delegates to outline the opportunities to educate designers and industry on the role of design in effectively integrating disciplines. Speakers include Andrew Summers, Philip Dodds, Paul Priestman and others.

Italian designer and Alessi founder, Alberto Alessi will talk at Beautiful but Useful on 8 March from 6.30pm. The event is part of the Royal Society of Arts Midlands lecture series.

Milan based King Miranda Associati designers Perry King and Santiago Miranda will give the Royal Society of Arts lecture on 7 March from 6pm. An integrative approach to design or the story of Jason and the Golden Fleece will be chaired by Glasgow School of Art head of product design Professor Norman McNally.
