O Street maps out identity for Edinburgh Film Festival

The Edinburgh International Film Festival has appointed Glasgow-based consultancy O Street to create a fresh visual identity for each of its next three festivals.

The consultancy triumphed in a final three-way pitch last week, and is tasked with designing an identity, to be rolled out at the 2007 festival in August, which will ‘excite and appeal to a broader audience’.

According to the brief, the consultancy must also highlight the overall EIFF experience, including discussions, live events and opportunities to meet cinematic heroes, in an attempt to ‘enlighten new and returning audiences to the unique energy of the EIFF’.

Appointed by the festival’s artistic director, Hannah McGill, O Street will focus on how concepts can be developed over a three-year period. McGill also wants to see what opportunities there are in reviewing the festival’s current branding.

She says, ‘O Street’s visual ideas were vibrant and arresting. We want the image of the EIFF to be as fun, forward- looking and exciting as the festival itself.’

The previous two consultancies to carry out the work were 300 Million and 999.

The 61st Edinburgh International Film Festival will take place between Wednesday 15 August and Sunday 26 August.
