Racing to the defence of Dumbar in RAC job

First, let me state that Gert Dumbar has been a friend of mine since 1966, so it may seem I have a vested interest in commenting on the RAC identity (DW 25 April).

The new RAC corporate identity, or “branding” as it is called today, is a straight copy of Gert’s Dutch police livery.

Considering that the RAC expressed great admiration for the work that Studio Dumbar did and invited him to tender, you wonder where it all went wrong.

I expect that Gert forgot to write a chapter on “branding” in his proposal.
