You don’t get a ride if you’re dull and practical
It was refreshing to note Mr Law’s cutting insight into the economics and marketing of a modern transport service (DW 18 April).
If the sexiness of train design in particular offends Mr Law, might I suggest he resorts to personal transport – a four-wheel incarnation of his design brief was embodied in the dull but practical Austin Maxi.
Coincidentally, the Maxi was developed at the same time as the HST 125 – a train that led directly to an increase in passengers through the use of a sexy front- end to create a whole new image for British Rail – exactly what Gatwick aims to do.
