No 7 counting on Dew Gibbons

Boots the Chemists is embarking on a major overhaul of its core No 7 skincare range, it has emerged this week.

It has appointed Dew Gibbons to redesign the packaging for the No 7 brand’s Daily Skincare range, due to relaunch next summer.

Boots may look to change the name of the range, a spokeswoman says, and is introducing several new products. The move follows Williams Murray Hamm’s redesign and repack of Boots the Chemists’ entire Natural Collection, which launched on 24 September.

Dew Gibbons won the work through its place on the roster. The WMH project was understood to be worth more than £100 000 in design fees. The No7 fee has not been disclosed.

The UK health and beauty treatments market last year was worth £870m, according to Mintel, and has the potential to be worth more than £1bn by 2004. Consumers are becoming increasingly interested in hi-tech approaches to health and beauty care, such as anti-aging techniques and skin rejuvenation products.
