Polish cultural festival in the UK is at planning stage

Cultural activists in Poland are planning to stage a Polish ‘season’ in the UK in 2009/10 to promote creativity in the former Eastern Bloc country.

To this end, representatives of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and Scotland’s Lighthouse and Six Cities project took part in a study visit to Poland last week. Organised by Warsaw’s Adam Micklewicz Institute and the Polish Cultural Institute, this included presentations by Polish designers and visits to the Silesian Castle of Art and Enterprise in Cieszyn and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts.

Plans for the season remain sketchy, but discussions are underway for an exhibition of Polish posters at the V&A.
