AMX Studios had to get to grips with protestant repression, sex, death and the Royal Family to create the title sequence for the historical film Elizabeth, which opens this week. Portraits and religious icons are used during the minute-long piece to set the mood for the opening scene, which depicts the death of Mary Tudor. The whole project was completed on Apple Macinosh G3 computers.

Diefenbach Elkins Davies Baron creative director David Davies says the group aims to create a feeling of ‘informal elegance’ with its new identity for Scandinavian airline SAS. The group worked jointly on the project with local consultancy Stockholm Lab of Sweden. Davies says the design is also meant to emphasise the cultural Scandinavian values of modernity and under statement. The identity began rolling out last week to signage, literature, livery and uniforms. The groups have also redesigned SAS’ cabin interiors and aircraft livery.
