26 Collective and LCC go full circle on Tube study

A collaborative project between design students of the London College of Communication and writers from the 26 collective is to examine all the stations of London Underground’s Circle Line.

The project, titled From Here to Here, will spawn a book, exhibition and series of posters to coincide with the London Design Festival and is part of LU’s Platform for Art programme.

Writers and a team of students were allocated to each of the Circle Line’s 27 stations, with the students creating a series of unique poster designs that will be displayed on the line’s trains and platforms from next week. All the materials, objects and research used in the project will be presented at an exhibition of the same name running at the LCC from 16 September to 12 October. John Simmons, a 26 founder, began to put together the project a year ago. ‘I had the idea of looking at the iconic Circle Line stations and their surrounding areas for the festival. We teamed up writers with the students to create joint works on each station,’ he says.

The accompanying book features black and white photography by Jessie Simmons and is designed by R&D&Co. Its cover image is by LCC student Chiara Horn.
