I could say, ‘to achieve business prosperity’, but I guess that might sound trite. Or I could produce an endless and diverse list of ‘art inspirations’ – Richard Long’s Tame Buzzard Line, Allen Jones’s Back-flip, the Church of the Three Crosses designed by Alvar Aalto, the Cricketer’s Gin bottle design by Michael Peters and Partners, the FedEx logo…

However, the more abstract, less tangible one that I’d like to share, that is woven into the fabric of my business and is truly inspirational to me, is ‘people’. People and the dynamics of individuals, teams and partnerships.

I’m inspired by the dynamics of creating a team of talented individuals [symbolised by the illustration], the inter-relationships that occur, then manipulating and plying a process with the aim of achieving a result beyond expectations – beyond one individual or one single discipline. Just like an orchestra, from the individual musician, the musical sections, through to the conductor, they collectively generate a complex musical composition. In creative terms, it is a ‘design symphony’.

I am inspired by and fortunate to be constantly working with some of the very best interior, graphic, lighting and packaging designers, architects, strategists and procurement artisans across many fields.

Back to ‘art inspirations’: my eldest daughter’s paintings are my latest addition to the list.
