Game Changers: the exhibition charting the evolution of game design

We visited Somerset House’s new exhibition Game Changers: Another Way to Play and spoke to design studio Matheson Marcault about the inspiration behind it.

Games and play are taking over London’s Somerset House this April, as the gallery runs a new month-long exhibition called Game Changers: Another Way to Play.

Using three famous games as its focal point – chess, billiards and mazes – the exhibition displays imaginative new works inspired by these traditional methods of play.

We visited Somerset House on the opening day of the exhibition – which ran alongside a weekend-long festival called Now Play This held in the gallery’s New Wing – and spoke to its director Holly Gramazio and producer Sophie Sampson of West Sussex game design studio, Matheson Marcault.

Now Play This ran from 7-9 April, and Game Changers: Another Way to Play runs until 7 May at Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA.
