Lippincott has created the branding for new cyber security company Optiv, with a name derived from the words “active” and “operative”.
Optiv Security has been formed following the merger earlier this year between Accuvent and FishNet Security. Lippincott’s New York office was brought in to create a name and identity for the newly merged organisation.
The new Optiv replaces previous branding for the two companies.
The Optiv name was selected from more than 1,200 possibilities, including some suggested by the company’s employees.
Lippincott says the name “evokes the idea of giving organisations a clear field of vision, helping them understand their options, and providing them with what they need to take action and to successfully execute on their security needs”.
The new Optiv logo features an “O” for Optiv and two half circles, that combine to form the letter.
Lippincott says the logo also aims to suggest a chain, signifying “the endless chain of available cyber security options”.
Marc Hohmann, design partner at Lippincott, says: “We chose a clean typeface and symbol without flourishes to reflect Optiv’s expertise in simplifying complex problems.
“The colors in the half circle shift upwards from darker to lighter hues creating continuous vertical movement that activates the mark and communicates relentlessness.”
The new identity is set to roll out in full this year.
