Letterpress design by typographer Alan Kitching is the subject of a new exhibition at the Pentagram Gallery which opens on 19 April. Both client-commissioned work and projects from Kitching’s own series of workshops will be on display.

For print of a different sort, visit The Contemporary Print Show at London’s Barbican Centre next week. Held in two parts, the show features work from around 200 artists in a variety of print media – from engravings to screenprints. Part 1: 18-27 April, part 2: 30 April-10 May.

The work of Fabio Thurtadio (left) is featured in A Festival of Spanish Painting, which has just opened at London’s Albemarle Gallery. The exhibition celebrates nine modern artists who have dramatically different styles and techniques. Until 3 May.

Art also invades the north west next week, where an exhibition, Video Positive 97: Escaping Gravity, takes over a collection of arts venues and nightclubs throughout Liverpool and Manchester. Billed as the UK’s biggest festival of video and electronic art, the event celebrates the work of international established artists and introduces some rising stars. From 11 April – 18 May.

Manchester also plays host to the Northern Packaging Plus Exhibition from 16-17 April.

Featuring over 100 companies, it is aimed at packaging users, buyers and specifiers.
