Sampsonmay builds logo for mortgage group

Sampsonmay has completed a branding project for start-up mortgage companies Residential 1 and Commercial 1, which launched this week.

The consultancy was appointed to the work, worth an initial £20 000 in fees, without a pitch. It has been working on the project, encompassing a logo, stationery, Web page and holding page, for the past four months.

According to Sampsonmay creative director Ricky Sampson, the group was briefed to create a logo that appealed to the target audience of mortgage brokers, independent financial advisors and other financial intermediaries.

Sampson, who led the design team, says the main challenge was ‘getting over a young fresh feel’ and delivering ‘a clean elegant logo that stands out in a cluttered marketplace.’

Daniel Churchill, one of the three directors of Residential 1 and Commercial 1, says the company is aimed at what he sees as a growing market of specialist mortgage lenders and caters for customers who find it difficult to get a mortgage from a high street lender.

‘Because we are new to the market it is important to create a good solid brand,’ he adds.
