Branding and packaging specialist FLB has redesigned White Lightning, HP Bulmer’s strong white cider. White Lightning is Bulmer’s biggest take-home white cider brand, but the branding and packaging design did not reflect the brand leader status. Pack shape and size remain the same, but, in order to maximise shelf stand out, FLB has created a new dark blue bottle to match the dark blue of the label, showing a blue metal orb with the WL badge generating lightning streaks to denote energy. The new pack went on-shelf at Sainsbury’s and major multiples this month.

Baked beans and Union Jacks feature in one of six scenarios in Paul Smith’s True Brit exhibition, which has just opened at Japan’s Kobe Fashion Museum near Osaka. Created by London groups Why Not Associates and Aboud Sodano, the five-minute slide ‘performances’ give the context of Smith’s work. Shown here is British Tradition, other sections are The Magpie and The Traveller, depicting Smith’s influences, and Colour, Fashion Heritage and Paul Smith People, taking images from Paul Smith promotions. Aboud Sodano has been retained to work with Paul Smith throughout 1999.
